I felt depressed after watching the documentary ‘The Big Short.’
It talked about the housing market crash of 2007 and the bail out of big banks. It made me feel small – that we are at the mercy of corruption, greed and a huge injust system that is unfairly impacting people’s lives.
People were writing bad mortgages, selling them to big banks, the securities rating system was pandering to the banks, and finally it all came crashing down – and the taxpayers and working folks footed the bill for the big bonuses and payouts. And the system didn’t change. In fact we’re on track for a recurrance because the products lacking integrity have come back on the market just under a new name.
On one hand I feel its important to understand the state of the world, on the other hand it makes me feel depressed to see a huge machine that can’t be changed – or that I alone am incapable of changing.
So this morning, I did the dynamic spin release on, ‘I feel helpless at the state of the world’ and what I got back was an image of a yellow brick road, the message, ‘follow the yellow brick road.’ What that meant to me was that my life is only a small part of the bigger picture. What’s important for me to focus on is my road, my life purpose and mission. I envision that as helping others and waking up ‘The Wizard Within.’
It’s not my job to fix the corporate system. I can do what is in my power. I bank with a credit union and I make efforts to buy local.
My job is to inspire people to find their inner wisdom and truth and live their life purpose, mission and vision. That’s my yellow brick road. And it’s not so much about going to find the wizard, it’s being the wizard.
We are all the wizards of our lives. We have much more magic, wisdom and insight available to us than we recognize or use. Be the Wizard.
